Wildcats outscore Eagles in slugfest

SHEFFIELD — Entering Thursday afternoon, it had been 1,785 days since the Lee Wildcats baseball team had beaten Mt. Everett. That was in 2014, when even the oldest members of this year’s squad hadn’t yet started the eighth grade.

But that’s exactly what the Wildcats did this week, ending the streak with an 8-6 road victory over the Eagles and advancing their record to 2-1 on the young season. It is the first time Lee has been above .500 since April 18, 2017, when the Wildcats beat Gateway to move to 2-1, as well.

Early on, though, it looked to be a typical matchup between the teams.
