SHEFFIELD — A parent and longtime employee of Southern Berkshire Regional School District has filed a lawsuit against his employer, claiming the district took “retaliatory action” against him when he raised concerns that the district failed to provide educational services to his son, and subsequent claims of contract breaches.
The whistleblower and breach of contract complaint is brought by Kurt DeGrenier, a 15-year employee of the district and former dean of students at Mount Everett Regional School.
According to the complaint, dated Tuesday, Oct. 1, DeGrenier is seeking reinstatement to his position as dean of students and “compensatory damages in an amount to be proven at trial, plus triple damages, attorneys’ fees, interest and costs.”
The lawsuit names Beth Regulbuto, the district superintendent, and Sandra Hubbard, director of student services, as defendants in the case, along with the 10 members of the school committee.
