GREAT BARRINGTON— Two town employees have some new responsibilities after being recently promoted.
The two promotions are intended to build the Great Barrington Town Hall team to support the town’s aggressive agenda in coming years, said Mark Pruhenski, town manager.
Last week, Great Barrington Town Planner Chris Rembold was named assistant town manager/director of planning and community development.
In this role, Rembold will maintain his current responsibilities, but will also oversee capital asset management and the building department, said Pruhenski. As it stands, Rembold said he has a close relationship with the town’s building inspector, Edwin May, and sees him almost daily. Among his duties in overseeing the building department, Remold will be working toward the redevelopment of blighted sites.
“The role of town planner has expanded dramatically in the past 10 years in Great Barrington. Chris’s work is far-reaching and high impact, and this is our way of recognizing his past and future planning work,” said Pruhenski, adding that Rembold’s new title is a reflection of the level and quality of his work advancing the town’s economic development agenda.
