Turner won’t seek re-election to longtime seat on Egremont’s select board

By Cory Willey

EGREMONT — Select Board Chair Bruce Turner will not seek re-election when his term expires in 2019.

Turner—who has served the town for over two decades—announced that this would likely be his last year on the board at the top of Tuesday’s meeting of the selectmen.

His announcement came during the board’s annual reorganization, after Select Board member Mary Brazie motioned to nominate Turner to serve as chair for another year.

“I really would like not to do it, but it is up to you guys,” Turner said to his fellow board members. “I am planning for this to be my last year as selectman and if somebody else would like to do it, I would like to go out nice and quiet, but if you want me to do it I would be more than glad to do it.”
