Stockbridge special town meeting voters approve all four articles on the warrant

STOCKBRIDGE — The town has voted in favor of all four articles at special town meeting on Jan. 22.

The near three-hour meeting adopted four articles, the first for a moratorium on recreational marijuana, the second to authorize the select board to request a special to combine the roles of treasurer and tax collector and to make that position appointed, third to authorize the town to raise and acquire funds for an updated highway garage, and fourth to authorize the town to raise, appropriate or borrow funds for a traffic study at the intersection by the Red Lion Inn.

Gary Johnson of the town’s Historic Preservation Committee moderated the meeting.

The first article on the agenda was a measure to enact a moratorium on recreational marijuana in order for the town to review the state’s regulations scheduled to come down on March 15 so that the planning board will have time to write their own bylaws, should they feel the need to do so.
