Stockbridge residents to weigh in on intersection redesigns

STOCKBRIDGE — Big changes could be coming to the intersection of Routes 7 and 102 outside the Red Lion Inn in Stockbridge. On Wednesday, March 18, the Select Board will hold a public hearing to view five new design options for the intersection.

According to Town Administrator Mark Webber, VHB engineers will present conceptual layout drawings of proposed new designs that could make the intersections safer for drivers and pedestrians alike.

“It’s been a long discussion over the years about how to handle it,” Webber said. “It has never reached a level of dangerous intersections by the state criteria. They have models for that criteria and neither of them do, but they still are problematic. So the town is interested in addressing each to make them safer and to have a better traffic flow.”
