STOCKBRIDGE — The town could have a new fire chief in place before its annual town meeting.

At Stockbridge’s select board meeting on Tuesday night, members Terry Flynn and chair Don Chabon interviewed the two finalists vying for the open fire chief position. Board member and former fire chief Ernest J. “Chuckie” Cardillo sat in the audience, observing the interviews.

The two finalists are Vincent J. Garofoli, 38, an advanced EMT training officer and volunteer firefighter with the Becket Fire Department, and Courtney Manning, 43, a fire captain and EMT for Lancaster Fire Department and EMS rescue squad. Manning is also a member of Lancaster’s board of public works.
