GREAT BARRINGTON — Residents will hear from two town-hired consultants on the potential odor and sound impacts of an applicant for a proposed marijuana cultivation and manufacturing facility in Housatonic at a Selectboard meeting on Monday, Jan. 13.
Great Barrington Town Manager Mark Pruhenski has indicated that he would not comment until the sound and odor experts — which includes Cambridge-based acoustical consultant Ascentech and Odor Science & Engineering Inc., which is headquartered in Bloomfield, Connecticut — have given their individual presentations on the potential impacts that special permit applicant Fulcrum Enterprises LLC’s project may pose. At this point, the only Odor Science & Engineering Inc. has released its report, which is available for public viewing at the town’s website at townofgb.org.
On Sept. 18, 2019, Odor Science & Engineering submitted a draft report that presented its findings from the review of Fulcrum’s original submittal. The report identified several shortcomings in the proposed odor mitigation plan, stemming mainly from unsubstantiated claims of performance of the proposed odor mitigation technology. According to Odor Science & Engineering, Fulcrum made a conscientious effort to address these shortcomings. This included several investigations, the results of which were incorporated into a 276-page Dec. 5, 2019, submittal. Odor Science & Engineering’s finalized report presents its findings from review of that submittal.
