Monument Valley Regional High School climbs the next steps

GREAT BARRINGTON — A panel that was formed last year to explore and enhance the 50-year-old Monument Mountain Regional High School is creating a vision on what an updated building could look like.

Josh Shapiro, an alumnus of the school, is working on crafting that vision through public dialogue.

The panel, Monument Next Steps, will provide a new lens for the school while initiating a public conversation about what the school could be on May 23 at 7 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.

Walking into the aging high school, Shapiro said he won’t find an adequate sprinkler system, large lockers, or safe windows to protect students from potential threats
