Lenox’s Hunter saves the day for Pittsfield Post 68

By Ethan Winter

PITTSFIELD—Lenox’s Noah Hunter had barely pitched all year after suffering an injury that knocked him out for the rest of the high school season, but by the way he pitched Tuesday afternoon, you wouldn’t have known it.

“I haven’t pitched in awhile and I was a little nervous going into it but as I got in there I got more comfortable and Joey [Woronick] called a great game behind the plate,” said Hunter.

He is forgiven for going into the game with a little bit of nerves as he was thrust into a bases loaded nobody out jam after Post 68 starter Phil Guest walked the bases loaded to start the second inning. Hunter came out of the jam allowing only one inherited runner to score on an RBI single to right by Monson Post 241’s Ryan Nodell. Hunter then struck out the next two batters he faced and induced Monson’s Tyler Cole to ground out to third to end the inning.

“That was huge,” said Post 68 manager Pat Bassey. “He came in gave up that base hit but then he shut them down.”
