The Great Barrington Conservation Commission will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Great Barrington Town Hall, 334 Main Street, to act on a Notice of Intent from Berkshire Engineering on behalf of Butternut Basin, Inc, property at 380 State Road, Rt. 23, Map 42 Lot 20. Proposed work includes the construction of drainage and structural foundation improvements and the addition of 297 square feet of interior space to an existing building within the 100 foot buffer zone of an intermittent stream. This public hearing will be held in accordance with the Mass Wetlands Protection Act and the Great Barrington Wetlands Bylaw.

The Great Barrington Conservation Commission will hold a public meeting on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 6:30 PM at the Great Barrington Town Hall, 334 Main Street, to act on a Request for Determination of Applicability from Laura Jordahl, property at 50 Hurlburt Road, Map 31 Lots 16 & 16B. Proposed work includes demolition and removal of a substantial portion of an existing building and adjacent deck within the buffer zone of an intermittent stream. This public meeting will be held in accordance with the Massachusetts Wetlands Protection Act, Ch.131, Sec. 40 and the Great Barrington Wetlands Bylaw, Ch.168.

The Southern Berkshire Regional Emergency Planning Committee (SBREPC) is federally mandated to oversee the “Community Right to Know” planning, training, and information gathering for the storage of hazardous materials within the area of southern Berkshire County, Massachusetts. The SBREPC is comprised of the following South County towns: Alford, Egremont, Great Barrington, Monterey, Mount Washington, New Marlborough, Otis, Sandisfield, Sheffield, Stockbridge, Tyringham, and West Stockbridge.

Meetings of the SBREPC are generally conducted at 8:00 AM on the third Tuesday of the month, at Fairview Hospital, 29 Lewis Avenue, in Great Barrington. The public is invited to attend.

The SBREPC has developed an integrated emergency response plan and this plan is available for review. Additional information that is site specific for hazardous material storage is also available. Records located at the SBREPC headquarters at Fairview Hospital can be viewed by appointment only. The Town of Great Barrington, acting through its Chief Procurement Officer and in conjunction with the Department of Public Works, invites sealed bids from contractors for the Downtown Area Roadway Improvements Project. The work generally consists of concrete sidewalk and curbing removal and replacement, roadway pavement milling, paving and striping, signage, drainage and utility installation, temporary and permanent signage installation, roadway reclaim and reconstruction.

A Bid Proposal Package for this project which contains detailed specifications, bid forms and other pertinent information may be obtained for free electronically (in PDF format) from the Town’s consultant engineer, Stantec by emailing a request for documents for bidding to Bryan Ruoff at bryan.ruoff@stantec.com Paper plans and specifications will also be available from Stantec Consulting Services Inc. at 5 Dartmouth Drive, Suite 101, Auburn NH 03032, Hours: 8 AM to 4:30 PM, Mon.​—​Fri., Tel: 603-669-8672, for a $50.00 non-refundable fee per set. There will be no charge for mailing sets. The fee must be made payable to Stantec Consulting Services Inc. NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED. Only those contractors who have been prequalified by MassDOT for the type of work at the contract amount will be allowed to receive Bid Proposal Packages.

Sealed Bids shall be received at the Office of the Town Manager, 334 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA by 10:00 AM on Thursday July 12, 2018 at which time all bids will be publicly opened and read aloud. Proposals must be sealed and clearly marked “Downtown Area Roadway Improvements Project”. The Town Manager is the awarding authority and reserves the right to reject any or all bids, to waive minor informalities or irregularities in any bid, to make an award in any manner consistent with the law and deemed to be in the best interests of the Town of Great Barrington. All prospective bidders are required to attend a Mandatory Pre-Bid Conference to be held at 9:00 AM on Tuesday, June 26th, 2018 at the Town Offices, 334 Main Street, Great Barrington, MA at which time the Town and their consultant engineer, Stantec, will be available to answer questions related to the contact documents, a site visit of the limits of work shall occur after the meeting.

All bidding is subject to the provisions of M.G.L. Chapter 30, Section 39M and Chapter 149, Sections 44A-J inclusive. Wages are subject to prevailing wage requirements of M.G.L. Chapter 149, Sections 26-27H inclusive. All bids shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in an amount which is not less than five percent (5%) of the bid amount in the form of a bid bond or cash, certified check, treasurer’s check or cashier’s check issued by a responsible bank or trust company payable to the Town of Great Barrington.

The successful BIDDER must furnish insurance certificates, a 100% Performance Bond and a 100% Payment Bond with a surety company approved by the OWNER within five (5) days of the Notice to Award. Bids may not be withdrawn within 30 consecutive days after the bid opening.
