Lee retail dispensary passes one more hurdle before opening

(Emily Thurlow) Canna Provisions, a new retail marijuana shop, is located at 220 Housatonic St., Lee.

LEE — Norman Rockwell posters. Hand-crafted antiques. A canoe mounted to the wall.

When Lee’s first recreational marijuana retail dispensary opens, customers will be greeted by decor featuring regional collectables and antiquities.

The atmosphere of Canna Provisions, located at 220 Housatonic St., will lend itself to a different kind of experience in the retail marijuana market, said Erik Williams, chief operating officer for the organization.
“We wanted to really capture the Berkshires,” said Williams, noting how he and others had picked up furniture and other items from local shops in Lee and Sheffield.

Last week, Canna received its final license from the state Cannabis Control Commision to open a retail store in Lee, said Meg Sanders, CEO of the organization. From here, all that’s left is getting the product in the doors, she said. Once the product has been received, the commission will perform one more final inspection.
