Lee Elementary School embraces veterans in the community at a ceremony

LEE — Elementary school students learned a recent lesson in honor.
On Friday, Lee students and staff welcomed roughly 40 veterans to offer appreciation for their service in the military.

The annual Veterans Day ceremony included songs performed by first-, fourth-, fifth- and sixth-grade students as well as readings from first- and second-graders. The playing of Taps was performed by students Riley Albert, Matthew Mairo and Jack Boden.

State Rep. Adam Hinds, D-Pittsfield, also spoke at the ceremony, sharing personal remarks about family members that have served and how veterans put those around them ahead of themselves and share in a lifelong brotherhood/sisterhood as a result.
