GREAT BARRINGTON — Voters elected newcomer Kate Feuer Burke and incumbent Bill Cooke out of a six-way race for two seats on the town’s Select Board.
Burke, 33, is manager of the Great Barrington Farmers’ Market and a mother of two small children. At a forum for all candidates on May 9, Burke said that the demographic she represents (as a young parent) is essential to Great Barrington’s future, and this appears to have resonated with voters.
Burke was the decisive leader in votes among the six Select Board candidates, receiving 634. Cooke received 456. Among the other candidates: Holly Hamer received 399 votes, Chris Tucci 145, Gavin Pollock 118 and James W. Clark 116.
