Housatonic swept by Cornerstone 90s in BABL finals

PITTSFIELD — Mark Twain once said that history does not repeat itself, but it does rhyme. The 2018 Berkshire Adult Baseball League 20+ finals proved that adage to be true, much to the dismay of the Housatonic River Monsters, who were swept for the second straight season by the Cornerstone 90s.

This is Cornerstone’s fifth straight trip to the finals and the team’s fifth championship in the eight year history of the league.

Despite both sides being underseeded in their respective first round series, both the Housatonic and Cornerstone advanced to the championship round for the second straight season. And for the second straight season, the 90s jumped out to a commanding 1-0 series lead, winning 8-0 Saturday.

With their collective backs against the wall, the River Monsters went into Sunday with the confidence of a team who had come from behind before. Because, well, they had, a week ago against the Great Barrington Millers.
