Great Barrington chief beyond proud of department’s accreditation

GREAT BARRINGTON – The town’s police department is the first in the county to receive state accreditation, and Police Chief William Walsh, Jr. could not be prouder.

“The public knows their police department is where it should be in terms of 21st-century policing, and a whole variety of topics,” Walsh said in a May 16 interview. “It’s just a goal we’ve had for a long time and we’re finally there… we’re particularly pleased we’re the first in the county.”

The department received full state accreditation earlier this month and was presented an award May 3 at the Connors Center in Dover.
