Egremont loses 10th policeman in last two years

EGREMONT — Tyler Race, a part-time police officer and former Egremont Police Chief, submitted a one-sentence resignation letter to the select board last month. Race had been on personal leave since December.

“Please be advised I will not be returning from my leave of absence, subsequently constituting my resignation in accordance with the Egremont Personnel Policies and Procedures,” the Jan. 22 letter read in its entirety.

Select board member and town administrator Mary Brazie said no reason was given for Race’s departure.
