Edelman won’t seek reelection for another term in Monterey

MONTEREY — After three years on the select board, Carol Edelman will not seek reelection.

Edelman, who currently serves as the chairperson, said overall she has enjoyed her time working in town hall, and she has been proud to undertake a number of significant projects while on the board.

Recent personality conflicts between the newest select board member Don Coburn and other town officials was a factor in her decision to step down, said Edelman, who describes herself as conflict-averse.

“Kindness matters a lot to me,” she said. “I just feel that I was dealing with too much contentiousness and negativity.”
