Eagles use preseason practices to come together

Monday was the official opening day of fall sports according to the MIAA, but the Mt. Everett Eagles were at work long before that, just not supervised.
After a 4-13-3 season a year ago, the Eagles took matters into their own hands during the lead-up to the season with a slate of five captains’ practices in the couple weeks prior to Monday’s opening workout with coaches present.
Captain Grayson Duval, who plays forward for the Eagles, said the compete level brought to those preseason practices was high, allowing them to hit the ground running Monday.
“The commitment was incredible, actually, especially compared to past years,” Duval said. “Everyone was involved. Everyone wanted to do the drills. No one was messing around. The energy was the same out here as it was at captains’ practices.”
