SHEFFIELD — The driver who allegedly struck and killed a well known local woman with his pickup truck was apparently “fumbling” with a pack of cigarettes at the time of the crash, according to a source that asks to remain anonymous.
Police Chief Eric Munson said that distraction played a pivotal role in the crash and ultimate death
of Gillian Seidl, the woman who was hit in a crosswalk last week.
Although Munson said Edward Liebenow, the driver of the pickup truck involved in the crash, was not intoxicated or under the influence of drugs at the time, Munson did acknowledge the cigarettes as “a possibility,” adding that an unwrapped pack was found on the floor of Liebenow’s truck.
