WEST STOCKBRIDGE — Eugene Dellea was re-elected as the town’s moderator — for his 52nd consecutive term.
After serving one term on the West Stockbridge Board of Selectman, Dellea ran for the vacant moderator seat in 1967, unopposed, and has held the title ever since. Each year that he has run for the one-year post, he has never had a challenger.
“It’s been a very rewarding experience,” said Dellea, who is also the president of Fairview Hospital and the Hillcrest campus of Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
As moderator, Dellea presides and regulates the proceedings of town meetings. In that capacity, he decides all questions of order and makes public declaration of all votes, according to Massachusetts General Law.
