County boys play high-flying All-Star Game

From the outset, the Berkshire County Basketball Officials Boys’ All-Star Game delivered on the promise of any “good” game of its kind: scoring, and lots of it. The best boys’ basketball players in the county gladly took that mantle Friday night, putting the ball in the basket in any and every way possible.

Team Mark Alford, led by Monument Mountain coach Randy Koldys and players Dion Brown and Noel Powell, beat Team Churchill Cotton, featuring Shane and Jett Steinman of Lenox, Lee’s Ben Harding and Mt. Everett’s Pat Silk, 130-127 at Taconic High School Friday.

Neither team scored below 23 points in a quarter and all four quarters featured at least one team surpassing 30 points, making for a very high-scoring affair.

“We just wanted to come out and put on a show,” Shane Steinman said. “Have some fun with it.”
