BMC, nurses make little progress in latest negotiation talks

PITTSFIELD — A month removed from the nurses’ strike, talks between the group and Berkshire Medical Center management have yet to improve.

On Tuesday BMC management and members of the Massachusetts Nurses Association – the union that represents approximately 800 BMC nurses – bargaining committee came together for the first bargaining session since the Oct. 3 strike. Little progress was made.

“We looked forward to getting closer to a fair agreement at our bargaining session on Tuesday following our one-day strike for safe patient care,” reads a prepared statement from MNA spokesman Joe Markman. “Unfortunately, the hospital did not meet with us face-to-face for most of the day and did not make any new proposals.”
