Another attempt to close both lanes on Lake Mansfield Road has failed

GREAT BARRINGTON— Another attempt to fully close Lake Mansfield Road to vehicular traffic failed.

The Lake Mansfield Improvement Task Force met on Oct. 1 and learned as a committee of the Selectboard’s decision to keep the road open to one-way traffic.

In an effort to coax the board to reconsider its decision, task force member Brandee Nelson came before the board at its Monday, Oct. 7 meeting with a presentation about how and why the committee had come to the decision it had.

The Selectboard formed the task force more than a decade ago in an effort to address stewardship, protection of the watershed, lake improvements, water quality — including runoff, buffer zone erosion and invasive weeds — use and accessibility, and public safety, said Nelson.
