LENOX — To begin the 2019-20 boys basketball season, the Monument Mountain Spartans and Lenox Millionaires walked similar paths. Though the Millionaires had played and won one more game, the team entered Thursday night’s game with two losses each, both to North opponents Wahconah and Taconic.

With early control of the Berkshire South on the line, the game lived up to its billing, but it was the home team that walked away victorious, as Lenox held on for a 63-60 victory over Monument. Luke Patella led the way for Lenox with 20 points, while Monument’s Dion Brown finished the night with a game-high 21.

In the game’s opening minutes, though, Monument looked as though it was ready to roll. The Spartans forced turnovers on each of the Millionaires’ first three possessions and scored the game’s first seven points, jumping out to an early lead.
