Public Hearing

The Great Barrington Planning Board will hold a public hearing, pursuant to the provisions of Massachusetts General Law Ch. 40A, s. 5, on Thursday, March 7, 2019 beginning at 6 p.m. at the Fire Station, 37 State Rd., Great Barrington, to provide interested parties with an opportunity to comment on proposed changes to the Great Barrington Zoning Bylaw and the Zoning Map. Proposed changes include: clarifications for altering nonconforming uses in the Water Quality Protection District; changes to uses allowed in the downtown B zone; changes to rear setback, lot coverage regulations, parking requirements in order allowing more two-family and multi-family development opportunities; increase in base density for multifamily uses and in the B-3 zone; changes to accessory dwelling unit restrictions allowing for more accessory units, and allowing “tiny homes” to qualify as accessory units; assigning the special permit granting authority for residential uses to the Planning Board; amending the Design Advisory Committee bylaw; amending the marijuana establishment regulations; amending the use regulations and dimensional requirements of the B-2 zone generally and amending the Zoning Map as it pertains to Stockbridge Road to change the area of the B-2 zone and to eliminate the I zone.

 A copy of the proposed text and map amendments may be reviewed in the Town Clerk’s office at Town Hall during regular business hours, or at the Mason or Ramsdell Library, or on the town website www.townofgb.org. Any person wishing to be heard on these matters should appear at the time and place designated. Written comments will be accepted prior to the public hearing.
