11th Egremont police officer quits; cites ‘lack of integrity’

EGREMONT — Part-time police officer Stephen Parkington submitted his resignation to the select board on June 25, making him the 11th officer to resign from the department in the last two years.

In his letter to the board, Parkington cited a new full-time position with the West Stockbridge Police Department as the reason for his resignation.

His new role, however, wasn’t the only reason he gave for his departure.

“I have built valuable relationships through the town of Egremont, but I have also seen firsthand that there are members that still lack the integrity that law enforcement’s very foundation is built upon,” Parkington wrote.
