SHREWSBURY — The storylines for Wednesday’s Division III girls’ tennis state championship nearly wrote themselves. Two Wildcats, Weston and Lee, entered undefeated at a combined 42-0. Weston, coming from the third-to-last exit on the Mass Pike on the eastern end, and Lee, from the second-to-last exit to the west, met in the middle at St. John’s of Shrewsbury.

Two teams entered the tennis cages behind the school, but only one left with an unblemished record and a state title attached to their names.

Weston outlasted Lee 3-2 Wednesday afternoon, taking home wins in first and second singles, as well as first doubles to claim its first state championship since 2010.
