Thousands without power following the ‘Bomb Cyclone’

Some Berkshire County residents are still without power as of Thursday afternoon, as multiple crews from National Grid and Eversource continue to work to restore power to customers in the aftermath of Wednesday night’s high wind storm.
According to National Grid’s power outage map as of 3 p.m on Thursday, 84 percent, or 984 customers, in New Marlborough are still without electricity.
In Sheffield, the National Grid reports that just 399 customers are without electricity as of 3 p.m. on Thursday.
National Grid has listed a global estimated restoration time of Oct. 19 at 11 p.m for all of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, defining the time the company anticipates 95 percent of customers have their power restored.
In total, 90,000 National Grid customers across the state are without power as of 3 p.m., with a peak of 147,000 customers losing power at some point due to Wednesday’s storm, officially called a bombogenesis.
