GREENFIELD — Baseball is special because it is the only sport in which a winning team cannot run out the clock. All 27, or in the case of high school baseball 21, outs must be recorded to preserve a win. Sheffield Post 340 experienced that first-hand Friday night.

Post 340 pulled together to top Greenfield Post 81 11-9 in nine innings Friday after leading by as many as seven runs in the first four innings of play.

Since returning to American Legion play this summer, Post 340 has had an easy time scoring runs. And after a quiet first inning against Post 81, they returned to doing just that.
