SHEFFIELD — A proposed cannabis microbusiness could soon occupy the former location of the Sunrise Diner along Route 7 in Sheffield.

R & R Ventures, represented by Robert Cohen, presented the Sheffield Select Board its plans to expand the current 936 square-foot building into a marijuana cultivation and manufacturing site at the board’s Oct. 21 working meeting.

Cohen’s proposal includes a 4,032 square-foot addition to the building and eventually earning the status of a Tier 1 Marijuana Cultivator with the Cannabis Control Commission (CCC).

Operating as a microbusiness, the establishment would be limited to 2,000 pounds of marijuana it could purchase per year from other marijuana establishments, and would receive a 50-percent discount
