SHEFFIELD — Jesse Carpenter never intended to stay at Mount Everett Regional High School.
When he first came to the Sheffield campus as a freshman in 1988, the plan was to be there for a year and then transfer to Berkshire School to play football.
Now, 30 years later, as Carpenter eases into his new role as the high school’s principal, it’s clear that plans don’t always work out how you expect.
“I liked it here enough that I chose to stop playing football and to stay,” he said. “It’s one of the better decisions I’ve made.”
Carpenter officially took over the principal role Monday following the retirement of longtime principal Glen Devoti.
