Lee Public School District names new superintendent

New Lee Superintendent Michael Richard is set begin his new job on March 2.

LEE — A new superintendent is set to take the reins in the Lee Public School District.

On Friday, Jan. 31, Michael Richard signed a three-year contract with the Union 29 School Committee for the full-time superintendent position.

Richard has served as the superintendent of West Springfield Public Schools since July 2014, and will finish up with that district before his first day as Lee superintendent on March 2.

The Union 29 committee, which is comprised of three members of the Lee School Committee and three members of the Tyringham School Committee, conducted three nights of interviews with the final five superintendent candidates on Jan. 20, 21 and 22 at Lee High School.
