GREAT
BARRINGTON — The town’s agreement with remodeling contractor Grayhouse Partners
Inc. for the redevelopment of the former Housatonic Elementary School has been
severed.

Now, the
town is back to square one.

The
Housatonic-based firm was the only organization to respond to the town’s third
request for proposals for the former school by the August deadline, said Great
Barrington Town Manager Mark Pruhenski.

As a
result, Great Barrington entered into a one-year agreement with Grayhouse
Partners, which was then extended an additional six months. That expired in
June.

During that 18-month period, Pruhenski said the town was able to accomplish several tasks, including, but not limited to: developing site designs and parking plans, applying for and secure brownfields funding to assess hazardous materials, and meeting with funding agencies with Grayhouse Partners.
