Egremont selectmen talk future with district chief

EGREMONT — Town officials met with Southern Berkshire Regional School District Superintendent Beth Regulbuto for an introductory discussion and touched on the future of the South Egremont Village School, consolidation of schools and educational opportunities.

The discussion took place during the selectmen’s regularly scheduled meeting on Aug. 28. The meeting is part of Regulbuto’s outreach effort to meet with the boards of each of the five SBRSD member towns in an effort to establish better lines of communication within the community, the superintendent has said.

Regulbuto met with the Sheffield Select Board last week.

Egremont’s selectmen had plenty of questions for the new superintendent, who took over for former superintendent David Hastings on July 1.

First and foremost, the board wanted to know Regulbuto’s thoughts on the future of the much-discussed South Egremont Village School.
