EGREMONT — The Planning Board fully intended to vote to propose a ban on all marijuana businesses Tuesday night — it was the only reason they had called the meeting in the first place.
However, after two hours of discussion, the board adjourned without a decision.
Planning Board member Jared Kelly was not at the meeting when the board decided to move forward with the proposed ban Tuesday evening. With members Gregory Cherin and Edward Regendahl absent, Kelly raised several concerns about the board’s plan that members Lucinda Vermeulen and Helen Krancer ultimately found compelling enough to delay the vote.
“We are not against marijuana businesses, we just want to do it in a way that is in concert with the town,” Vermeulen said in a phone interview. “We are interested in educating ourselves about what residents want and about the nuances and complicated issues involved with the regulations the state has put forth.”
