SHEFFIELD —With weather forcing postponements of games across the county early in the season, South County baseball teams have had few chances to get outside, either to play or practice. But Thursday afternoon was a beautiful day for baseball and the Mt. Everett Eagles took advantage of it.

The Eagles opened their 2019 regular season schedule with a 6-3 home victory over the McCann Tech Hornets. Four Eagle pitchers combined to take home the victory, while Nick Vande Bogart drove home three runs.

Anthony Lupiani started the game on the mound for the Eagles and he was immediately greeted by a leadoff single by designated hitter Owen Gagne.

Mt. Everett, on the other hand, took advantage of its opportunities.
