LENOX — A gem of the downtown Lenox business community, Laurie Donovan Designs has been bringing a unique, non-traditional style of handmade jewelry to the Berkshires for nearly 40 years.

The local lapidarist, Laurie Donovan, specializes in custom jewelry design service, as well as repairing and re-purposing fine jewelry.

Last year, the jewelry store relocated to 63 Church St., just down the street from its previous and original location at 81 Church St.

The new location, as of last July, features a fully renovated gallery designed by Donovan.

In her 40th year in business, Donovan reflected on the long-standing jewelry business, which she says stemmed from an elective course she took while in college.
