GREAT BARRINGTON — A circus school is taking its show on the road.
The recreational circus and aerial yoga studio Berkcirque, located at 115 Gas House Lane, is closing its doors at the end of August.
Jill Fleming, founder and director of Berkcirque, announced the news via social media over the weekend.
“It’s time to make a shift,” said Fleming in an interview.
Fleming opened her “multicolored doors,” as she puts it, to the Berkcirque studio at Gas House Lane in 2015. Berkcirque has offered year-round instruction in aerial yoga, acrobatics, clowning, stilt walking, unicycling, juggling and aerial arts in year-round, weekly classes, workshops and camps. At its peak, the studio had eight instructors, including Fleming. She has also created circus presentations for audiences for more than 25 years.
Throughout her career, Fleming has created many circus presentations for audiences. She is also a 1,000-hour professional-level Kripalu-trained yoga instructor and fitness trainer with thorough knowledge of anatomy and physiology.
