Barrington, Lee pot contracts under probe by federal grand jury

The host community agreements between two Southern Berkshire County municipalities and retail recreational marijuana enterprises are being investigated by a federal grand jury.

Although it’s unclear how many communities are being probed as a spokesperson from the U.S. Attorney’s office has stated, “We must decline comment,” regarding the investigation, both Great Barrington and Lee have been subpoenaed.

According to a Nov. 4 Boston Globe article, a copy of one of the subpoenas obtained by that newspaper references a mid-November grand jury hearing led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Grady, a member of U.S Attorney Andrew Lelling’s public corruption unit.
