LEE — The town’s Greener Gateways Committee would like to minimize the use of single-use plastics in the town.

The town passed a bylaw back in 2017 banning the use of single-use plastic bags, a measure that Lenox and Great Barrington have also taken.

Now, the town is looking at plastic straws and plastic bottles. No talk of banning their use just yet, but the town is currently making efforts to minimize their use.

“This is a voluntary on our effort on our part to get restaurants to not use plastic straws,” Chairman Peter Hofman said.
