ALFORD —With solar farms seemingly sprouting up everywhere you look, this small town is taking the lead in trying to regulate where they’re located.
The Planning Board is considering a revision to the solar energy systems bylaw, if enacted, would regulate the placement of both ground-mounted and roof-mounted solar energy systems.
Ground-mounted solar energy systems like those in Great Barrington, are called solar farms in which dozens of acreage is devoted to large solar panels. Roof-mounted panels are those that members of the public can purchase for their homes or buildings.
