EGREMONT — The South Egremont Village School soon won’t be “flying” anymore.
The historic schoolhouse — which as of Wednesday could be seen resting on stilts, hovering seven feet above the ground — is ready to be lowered onto its newly poured foundation, according to Select Board member Mary Brazie.
In the meantime, the town awaits a response on officials’ application for an 18-month waiver that would allow the school to operate without meeting current standards set forth by the Americans with Disabilities Act.
