EGREMONT — The South Egremont Village School repairs could be completed as early as July.
Pittsfield-based contractor Salco Construction Co., started the repair project—which will replace the historic two-room schoolhouse’s foundation and fix rotting sills around the building—late last week. The school currently rests on stilts about seven feet off the ground.
“You can’t drive by there without smiling,” Select Board member George McGurn said Tuesday during a discussion of the project’s progress.
Select Board member Mary Brazie told the Record Wednesday that Salco has submitted a work schedule to the town which, if followed, would see the project completed by the end of July.
