GREAT BARRINGTON— Voters approved an $11.3 million operating budget and $16.1 million school budget at the annual town meeting, which come with a $23.3 million tax levy.
Successfully adopted amendments on the town meeting floor added almost $30,000 in funding for several key town services.
The tax levy came in at 8 percent above the previous year. This is projected to amount to an increase of just over $360 for the median single family home assessed at $301,000, although this could change based on annual growth, which is not assessed until the summer.
Over 300 people gathered in Monument Mountain Regional High School’s auditorium to make their voices heard and cast their votes with colored cards at a town meeting that lasted just under four hours.
