In blow to 37 Interlaken, Stockbridge Planning Board rejects Cottage Era Estate bylaw change

STOCKBRIDGE — The Planning Board voted unanimously Tuesday night to recommend a “no” vote on a proposed amendment to the town’s Cottage Era Estate bylaws.

The proposed amendment, which would allow by-right developments on Cottage Era Estates, was discussed at length during Tuesday night’s public hearing, eliciting a large turnout from the town.

Planning Board member Ruth Pearce made a motion which was accepted unanimously by the members to have the Zoning Review Committee look at the Cottage Era Estates bylaw and to make that their highest priority.

The Planning Board and residents of the town were staunchly critical of the bylaw and were most notably worried about the bylaw opening the town up to large scale developments that they would be unable to say ”no” to.
