Reflections on the 1992 shootings on Simon’s Rock college campus

GREAT BARRINGTON—On December 14, 1992, student Wayne Lo shot six people, killing two, on the campus of Simon’s Rock College.

A front-page Berkshire Eagle article on December 18, 2017 quoted two assertions by Leon Botstein (president of both Bard College in Red Hook, NY and Bard College at Simon’s Rock) in reflection on the 25th anniversary of that event:

1) “Botstein said the campus acted appropriately and that the responsibility for the shooting falls on Lo and no one else.”

2) “Nobody at Simon’s Rock was responsible. The only person responsible for the deaths was the shooter himself.”
