Tri-town health board has fallen six months in arrears

STOCKBRIDGE — The Tri-Town Board of Health has been granted funding by the town’s Finance Committee to employ a second health inspector in light of dire circumstances.
The Tri-Town Board of Health, as of Wednesday, is still pending funding from Lee and Lenox.
The board has fallen six months behind in scheduled inspections of food service establishments and septic systems. The board has only one health inspector who is currently out on medical leave, and has been for about four months.
“The board has developed an acute shortage of staff.” Stockbridge health board member Dr. Charles Kenny said. “This shortage has led to a six-month delay or backlog in the permitting and inspections of commercial food service establishments and septic systems.”
