Great Barrington Airport withdraws from special permit talks

GREAT BARRINGTON – The town’s airport debacle is over – for now.

On July 10, during a Select Board public hearing, Walter J. Koladza Airport officials – alongside their attorney – withdrew their special permit request, one they have been defending under heavy fire for five meetings.

The airport will now, as it has been, operate as a pre-existing, non-conforming commercial entity. The airport is grandfathered into a residential R4 zone. It was built some 86 years ago, before zoning regulations existed.
