2,400 free books find new readers in Great Barrington

GREAT BARRINGTON – Mason Library played host to a massive book giveaway, one that saw approximately 2,400 books finding new owners and readers.

Tables lined the Mason lawn Saturday, each splattered in books – kids books, instruction manuals, fiction and nonfiction novels, history textbooks and everything in between.

Friends of the Libraries President Ed Abrahams trawled the lawn, walking back and forth reorganizing and collecting donations.

“This is our third big one,” Abrahams said of the giveaways, which he said have always been outside and have luckily corresponded with nicer weather.
